"Reading the Green: Leadership Perspective Coaching, Strategic Consulting, and Training" is my proprietary framework.
Great leaders—like great golfers—learn to see the subtle slopes.
Most people walk through life like golfers without a caddy—confident in their swing, unaware of the wind, terrain, or the traps ahead. I'm here to change that.
Leadership isn’t just about vision—it’s about precision. And even the best miss the break without the right perspective. My coaching helps you:
Whether you're a CEO, athlete, or advisor; most comfort zones, perspective gaps, and blind spots fall into these traps:
📍 Dr. Ronald McCowan | Executive Caddy & Leadership Precision Coach
A great caddy knows the course intimately—every slope, wind pattern, and hidden hazard. They help the golfer see what’s not obvious and avoid costly misjudgments.
Caddies challenge decisions when necessary, offering insights grounded in experience. They don’t just agree—they counsel with clarity and courage.
Caddies help players regain composure after setbacks, reminding them of the bigger picture and resetting their mindset when emotions run high.
By observing patterns and reactions over time, great caddies hold a mirror to a player’s habits—helping them adjust their approach before it costs them the game.
Caddies recommend the right tool for the right situation. They weigh distance, terrain, wind, and the player’s tendencies to suggest a tailored approach.
Caddies see everything—good days and bad—but maintain confidentiality and loyalty. Their job is to preserve their player's confidence and credibility.
While the golfer gets the spotlight, caddies influence the outcome in critical ways. The best ones are almost invisible—but always indispensable.
Golfers don’t hire caddies for flattery. They hire them to win. My role is to tell you where your shot is going—before you swing. I don’t judge the course. I just help you play it better.
You don’t have to get louder to be more powerful. You don’t have to get softer to be more respected. You just have to see more clearly—and choose more wisely.Let me help you read the green. Because the slopes are real—and reputation breaks faster than you think.
Here are just a few of my testimonials:
"At a pivotal juncture in my career, Ron offered advice that made a big difference. I benefited monetarily and in business relationships that I value to this day."
"Ron has helped take my business to the next level by refining a consulting service idea I have been trying to market. He consulted with me, connected me to the right people (a blind spot for me), and helped me prepare all the support needed to market my idea. I am now ready to launch my idea and, of course, Ron has once again helped me navigate through a challenge. I recently moved on from consulting into a full-time job (which I also attribute—in part—to Ron) and no longer have time to market our idea. Ron has graciously offered to market this idea for me (even though I won’t be
taking part in it or doing the work) so that I will be able to see my ideas come to life!"
"Ron has been helping me navigate blind spots for over a decade as both a friend and colleague and this has helped me and my business take tremendous steps forward. As a colleague, Ron taught me the power of not trying to avoid inevitable conflict. No one likes conflict, but sometimes it is inevitable and being proactive about addressing it yields tremendous benefits in terms of minimizing the negative impacts it can have on you. This is no longer a blind spot for me and has improved my personal and
professional relationships and management skills."
"Great white paper on understanding blind spots. I found the section on Blind Spots in Corporate Customer Service especially interesting. I think that we all could learn from this thought provoking piece. Precise, well-written, easy read; and most important - applicable to all settings."
"Ron’s work on blind spots is spot on! One of the most heartbreaking things to see if someone who is full of potential being limited by a truth that no one has the care to tell them, or they don’t have the courage to accept it."
#1 - Successful people know which skills helped them win.
They also know their weaknesses.
But here's the trap:
⚡ Overconfidence in your strengths creates comfort zones, perspective gaps, or blind spots.
"This skill worked before — so I’ll just keep using it"
Logical, right?
Wrong.
Every situation is unique.
Comfort zones, perspective gaps, and blind spots grow when curiosity and adaptability die.
#2 - Success attracts people:
🔹Genuine supporters who think like you.
🔹And leeches who try to manipulate you.
Genuine friends?
They often share your comfort zones, perspective gaps, or blind spots — so they can’t help you see them.
Manipulative ones?
They see your comfort zones, perspective gaps, or blind spots... but use them against you.
They need you comfortable or blind to keep their power.
They’ll flatter you.
They’ll block your growth.
They’ll destroy anyone who tries to help you.
This is why musicians often can't top their first album.
Self-awareness dies when "yes people" take over.
#1 - “Everyone knows Tom Brady. But who knows Alex Guerrero (aka TB12 guy)?”
Behind the GOAT of football stood a lesser-known figure—Alex Guerrero, Brady’s personal body coach and mindset advisor. Guerrero wasn’t part of the NFL elite or a legacy insider, but he was relentless in truth-telling and loyal in vision. Tom trusted him not because he said what everyone else did—but because he didn’t. The difference between elite and legendary often comes down to someone in your corner who dares to challenge the playbook when everyone else just applauds. Every great career needs a Guerrero—someone who sees beyond the spotlight.
#2 - “Even Jordan #23 needs a caddy.”
Michael Jordan—the ultimate alpha competitor, NBA legend, and billionaire businessman—is also a dedicated golfer. On the course, MJ has learned what all high performers eventually discover: that vision is a team sport. Jordan may have been the leader on the court, but like every great, he knew when to listen—and still knows when to lean on perspectives beyond his own to grow his billions.
#3 - “Chi-Chi Rodríguez turned heads with flair, but it was his caddy who helped him stay grounded.”
Chi-Chi, famous for his sword-fighting celebration and fearless play, brought personality and grit to the PGA Tour. But behind that swagger was a quiet anchor—his longtime caddy who helped him stay focused under pressure and navigate the subtle nuances of every green. Chi-Chi once joked, “He’s the only guy I listen to more than my own voice!” In truth, that caddy wasn’t just a guide—he was a grounding force. Even the most colorful players need someone who reads both the course and the moment.
#4 - “JJ Spaun didn’t just win the U.S. Open—he shared it.”
When JJ Spaun clinched his first major victory, he didn’t lead with stats or strategy—he led with gratitude. Standing at the podium, he turned to his caddy and said, “I don’t win this without you.” His caddy had helped him not just with the yardage, but with staying mentally clear through storms of self-doubt. “He reminded me who I was when I forgot,” Spaun said. In that moment, it was clear: the win may have had one name on the trophy, but it had two hearts behind it.
